Welcoming New Staff to the Region

Volunteer Services Expands

By Jessica McEntee, Communication Intern

Lindsay Nash is the new Lead Specialist of Volunteer Services at our Fairfax, VA headquarters. Originally from the south, she began her career in nonprofits in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. She plans to help develop more personalization to the volunteer pathway and life cycle at the American Red Cross by utilizing effective volunteer engagement, which she says is the best way to add volunteer capacity.

Lindsay is most looking forward to the large-scale access and impact she can make through the Red Cross and its volunteer network. Over the last few years, Lindsay has traveled all over the world (Ghana, Thailand, and Chile to name a few!) She also loves to try out different cuisines and restaurants in the area. If you have any recommendations, be sure to let her know!

Melissa McBride has joined the Red Cross team as the new Volunteer Specialist, also situated in our Fairfax, VA headquarters. Like Lindsay, Melissa hails from the south where she was an intern with the Red Cross in Montgomery, Alabama. Since then, she's been involved with the AmeriCorps in Alabama and now hopes to increase involvement and hlep more people through her new position with the Red Cross.

Melissa's duties will be focused around helping efforts to increase volunteer opportunities and inter-volunteer communication through Volunteer Connection. In her spare time, Melissa is a self-proclaimed "physical activity freak" who loves to run. She's also a former junior Olympic gymnast of Alabama!
