My Red Cross Volunteer Story: Ashley Brown

Ashley Brown is a Blood Donor Ambassador who has been volunteering regularly in the Washington, DC area since February 2015.

A regular at the House and Senate blood drives, Ashley can always be counted on to volunteer for several shifts a month both at mobile blood drives and the Dr. Charles R. Drew Donor Center at National Headquarters.

Ashley is very reliable and a true asset!  She has truly saved the day on more than one occasion—going above and beyond the call of duty.

Originally from Indiana, Ashley moved to the DC area to attend school and decided to stay.  She had wanted to be a blood donor but always had an issue with her iron levels, so she started volunteering at blood drives as a way to give back and help save lives!

Ashley’s favorite aspect of volunteering is visiting the different sites in DC—such as government buildings and agencies—as well as meeting and getting to know the blood donors.

When she’s not volunteering, Ashley works at the Home Depot and spends a lot of time at the gym.  She also makes sure to participate in the various events and activities that the DC area has to offer.

Please join us in congratulating Ashley Brown – Volunteer of the Month for August 2017!
